Les Ménétrières

Our smallest Premier Cru parcel: just 0.40 hectares, for one of the estate’s rarest cuvées.

Among the 22 climats recognised as Pouilly-Fuissé Premiers Crus in 2020, Les Ménétrières is one of the most confidential. Our parcel, in the hamlet of Pouilly, covers just 0.40 hectares — around 3,000 bottles a year, making this the rarest cuvée of the estate.

A clay-marl terroir facing south-east

At 220 metres, the clay-marl soils of Les Ménétrières hold just the right amount of water and coolness, while the south-east exposure gives the vines the morning sun — a gentle light that ripens the grapes without rushing them. The vines, around 60 years old, plunge deep into the marl: naturally moderate yields, small concentrated berries.

The style of the cuvée

Hand-harvested then aged for 24 months in demi-muids, our Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru Les Ménétrières is the most indulgent of our Premiers Crus: vanilla, peach, pear and hazelnut carried by a generous palate, then a powerful, mineral finish that recalls the marl it springs from. A gastronomic wine, superb with a poultry in cream sauce or refined, lightly spiced dishes, and built to age 7 to 10 years.
