The 2023 vintage

A generous vine, a burning end of summer: the year when sorting and picking dates made all the difference.

2023 offered the vineyard a remarkable load of grapes — to the point where managing yields became the main challenge of the season. The summer, contrasted at first, ended with intense heatwaves in late August and early September, sending ripeness racing and turning the harvest into a sprint against the thermometer.

The difference was made by choices

In this context, two decisions made the vintage: the picking date, to bring in each parcel at its point of balance rather than overripe, and sorting, to keep only healthy, fresh berries. The well-born whites of 2023 were rewarded for it: round, sunny, with expressive yellow fruit and enough substance to hold the table.

How to approach them

2023 is a vintage of pleasure rather than of very long ageing: its wines can be enjoyed now for their immediate generosity — perfect with a poultry in cream sauce or spiced cuisine — and the most structured cuvées will still gain from two or three more years in the cellar.
