Winegrowers will long remember the nights of 6, 7 and 8 April 2021: after an exceptionally mild early spring had woken the vines, polar cold swept across the whole of wine-growing France. In Burgundy, the candles lit in the vineyards were not enough everywhere, and the crop promised to be small from the outset.
An old-fashioned summer
The summer of 2021, cool and regularly rained on, demanded constant vigilance in the vines. But this “old-fashioned” season had one virtue: bringing the whites back to a profile the warm years had made us forget — straight, fresh wines with aromas of citrus and white flowers, carried by lively acidities.

Less demonstrative than the 2020s, the whites of 2021 are wines for connoisseurs: their tension destines them for the table — fish, shellfish, matured goat cheeses — and their acidity promises a slow, elegant evolution. A vintage rare in volume, endearing in style.
